Dapol Y1 / Y3 Shunter
We have a number of figures suitable for the new Dapol Sentinel Y1 / Y3 Shunter. Most Sentinels were built for one man operation. The last remaining preserved Sentinel at Middleton is driven from the left and fired from the right, where the usual fireman controls are located. Although the Sentinel could be driven from either side, if it was one man operated it would be most likely to be driven from the right, where all controls were accessible.
The most suitable figures we offer are DM11, 11a, 24, 285, 397 Left or Right, 458 and 492. Shown below are 11 and 397L in an early prototype of the Dapol model. The driving hand of 458 and 492 is at a height suitable to rest on the controls in the centre of the cab as illustrated, again with a random figure in an early example of the model.
Photographs shown, left to right, are of DM11, DM24, DM297L, and an example of a driver at the controls.
